We take quality, vocation health, security and environmental protection within the scope of our important social responsibility. As of the year 1996, we have implemented all types of system standards, such as GB/T 19001-1994 (an international quality standard, ISO 9001’s equivalent standard in China), GB/T 28001-2001 (an internationally recognized health and security management standard, OHSAS 18001’s equivalent standard in China), and GB/T 24001 (an international environment management standard, ISO 14001’s equivalent standard in China). We have adopted the quality, health, security and environment supervision and management mode consisting of government supervision, social supervision, corporate internal control and external accreditation. The quality, health, security and environment management systems of our major affiliated operation companies have successively acquired related accreditation. In 2011 for instance, Sinopec Engineering Incorporation Ltd. acquired accreditation from Lloyd RQA on observing ISO 19001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. In 2008, The Fifth Construction Corporation’s oil refinery equipment project in Rabighl, Saudi Arabia set the record of staying free from accidents for 130 million man-hours and acquired the certificate granted by the proprietors.
Keeping to the running ideal of honest regulation and scientific development, the corporation implements the quality requirements of whole staff participation, duty fulfillment, process control, constant improvement and customer service, and starting from all-dimension quality management, it provides the customers with products and service which are well based, improved and measured. We have set quality management bodies which fall into three classes, and allocated professional quality management staff; we regularly conduct quality training, raise quality awareness and capability of the whole staff and strengthen process control to constantly raise project construction quality and service quality and thus make every project a world-class petrochemical equipment.
We set a security supervision and management system in the headquarters, and have similar systems in all domestic affiliated companies. Related function departments are responsible for making and promoting vocation security rules and standards and provide training for our staff concerning vocation security issues, we also set security supervision and management teams for all construction projects, which are responsible for on-cite promotion and observance of security-related rules, regulations and internal policies and coordination of security-related issues. We believe that our business has observed the Chinese state and local and business country’s health and security law and regulations in all important respects.
We have observed all Chinese state and local and business country’s law and regulations in terms of air pollution, noise, hazardous materials, waste water and materials discharge and other environment issues. We attach importance to environmental protection and are devoted to environmental protection in project construction and R&D of new environmental protection technique, equipment and products. Part of our environmental protection measures are as follows:
To set and implement environmental protection procedures and establish construction project environmental equipment, as must undergo examination and approval of our related departments as part of the preliminary project planning stage;
To treat pollutants discharged in operation process according to local standards in order to lessen water, air and solid material pollution and recycle use of wastes (if possible);
To only use equipment and products those comply with state environmental protection standards and encourage use of natural and clean resources to raise product quality.
In terms of our overseas business, we attach much importance to observance of applicable environmental law and regulations in the business country. These issues, having direct bearing on success of any of our particular overseas projects, are important factors we prudently consider before deciding whether to participate in an overseas project. We believe and ensure that our business comply with Chinese state and local and business country’s environmental law and regulations in terms of all key decision-making respects.
