Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd.

Founded in 1953, Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred as SEG Shanghai for short) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. It used to be called as “Shanghai Pharmaceutical Design Institute”, “Sinopec Group Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industrial Design Institute”, etc. It is one of the earliest large comprehensive companies engaging in petroleum chemistry, pharmaceutical, chemical engineering design and EPC in China.

The major business fields of SEG Shanghai could be divide to three categories: 1) petrochemical field, chemical fiber field, refining and chemical field, etc.; 2) pharmaceutical and chemical field, bio-energy petrochemical field, etc.; 3) environmental protection, electronic, textile and food, storage and transportation of natural gas, etc. The service scope of SEG Shanghai covers planning and consultation of engineering project, project proposal, feasibility study and design of basic engineering, specific engineering design, engineering procurement, EPC, engineering project management, technical development, etc.

SEG Shanghai has been rewarded with “level-A qualification certificate of comprehensive engineering design”, so it could develop 21 industrial engineering designs and EPC business such as chemical engineering, petrochemical and pharmaceutical, petroleum and natural gas, business, material and grain, textile, architecture, metallurgy, e-communication, broadcast and TV, municipal field, etc.; besides, it has been rewarded with many Level-A design certificates and level-II qualification certificates of construction industry in regard to environmental assessment, engineering consultation, engineering cost, pressure vessel, pressure pipeline, etc. SEG Shanghai has been rewarded with quality, environment, and OHSMS authentication certificate that was issued by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance in accordance with GB/T19001 idt ISO9001, GB/T 24001 idt ISO 14001 and GB/T28001 idt OHSAS18001. It has a batch of patents and special technologies, and it has built 10-gigabit Ethernet office network. What’s more, it has hosted and published two technical publications: Process Equipment & Piping and Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering.

SEG Shanghai owns an engineering technical team with excellent technology. Among over 1,300 employees, over 80% employees are engineering technicians engaging in engineering design and service, out of which, there are 12 design masters, over 700 employees have senior or medium-grade professional title, and there are more than 300 employees with operation certificates.

SEG Shanghai has completed over 6,000 domestic and foreign engineering projects, and it has been rewarded with 400 national & ministerial & provincial (city level) excellent engineering consultation, engineering design, EPC, project management, S&T progress awards, etc., out of which, there is a batch of major engineering projects representing the advanced level of chemical engineering, petrochemical and pharmaceutical fields, etc. for 60 years.

Over many years, SEG Shanghai keeps cooperating with international petrochemical engineering and pharmaceutical giants such as Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil, BASF, Bayer, Dow Chemical, Novatis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Janssen Pharmaceutical Ltd., Glaxo, etc., and providing engineering design and project management service; besides, it has built close cooperation with international famous engineering corporations such as Bachtel, Fluor, Toyo, Chiyoda, Technip, JGC, Lugi, Amec, CTCI, Lummus, FW, TR, Aker, etc. and they have undertaken a series of national and international major engineering projects together, and they have earned good reputation and popularity.
