Jiang Dejun Leads a Delegation to Guangdong University of Technology for Technical Exchange

On December 13, Jiang Dejun, Chairman of SEG, led a delegation to Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) for a technical exchange focused on lignin-related topics, aiming to advance collaborations under the jointly established "Biomass Joint Research Center." Yu Lin, Vice President of GDUT, and Feng Di, vice president of SEG, participated in the event.

Jiang Dejun emphasized that the establishment of the joint research center marks a significant step in deepening industry-university collaboration and promoting integrated innovation between research and industry. He stressed the need to leverage the "production, education, research, and engineering" advantages across the entire technology development chain. "We must not only focus on innovation from ‘0 to 1’ but also ensure the implementation of development breakthroughs from ‘1 to 100’," he stated. Jiang highlighted the importance of intellectual property protection during collaboration and called for strengthened synergy to accelerate the application of quality enhancement technologies for chemicals. He urged both parties to proactively position themselves in the high-end functional materials market and drive deeper, broader advancements in biomass valorization.

Yu Lin expressed GDUT’s strong commitment to the partnership with SEG, pledging institutional support to ensure smooth progress in engineering technology development for lignin valorization and facilitate breakthroughs in key technologies through close cooperation.

Feng Di expressed both parties to strengthen communication and expedite the commercialization and implementation of lignin utilization technologies with joint efforts.

During the meeting, SEG R&D Center provided a detailed report on the management progress and research achievements since the Biomass Joint Research Center’s establishment. GDUT’s Lignocellulose Valorization Team reviewed the Center’s establishment history and presented updates on collaborative projects. Both parties engaged in thorough exchanges and detailed discussions on current challenges, optimization strategies, mutual expectations, and priority tasks for the next phase.

The event was attended by GDUT’s management, technical experts, and relevant representatives from SEG’s General Administration Department, Technology Department, and R&D Center.
