Successful Roof Lifting of Algeria LNG Tank Project

On February 25, GPEC, as the EPC Contractor, successful completed the pneumatic lifting for the tank roof of Algeria LNG Tank Project, marking achievement of the key project milestone.

Roof lifting is one of the most complex, technically demanding, and high-risk milestone in LNG tank construction. The lifted steel roof weighed 1,004 tons, with a diameter of 82 meters, presenting many technical challenges. At 8:00 AM local time, following completion of all safety checks and equipment tests, the command was given to start the lifting process. With running of blower system, the steel roof began to rise steadily. By 11:30 AM, the roof was successfully lifted to its designated height of 35.8 meters, achieving a perfect connection with the compression ring in a single operation.

The successful completion of this milestone was witnessed by representatives from SONATRACH, SKIKDA Industrial Zone DR1K, GL1K Plant, ARH, CTC, and other relevant government agencies. The SONATRACH Project Manager and GL1K Plant Director, as the end-user, extended their sincere congratulations on achieving the milestone on schedule. They highly recognized SEG's project execution capabilities and expressed strong confidence in the successful completion and delivery of the LNG tank project.

This achievement lays a solid basis for the project’s timely completion. The project team will jointly collaborate to accomplish subsequent construction and commissioning work on schedule, and also will contribute to consolidation of North African market and high-quality development of GEPC and SEG.
