December 21st to 22nd, Sinopec held the 2016 “Ten-Dragon” Scientific and Technological Research Conference in Beijing. It was required to further implement innovation driven development strategy and focus on main business demand to continue to increase innovation strength and improve innovation level, so as to support and lead Sinopec to change its mode, adjust its structure and upgrade both quality and efficacy, making greater contributions to Sinopec’s sustainable development.

The meeting completed project matching in exploration development, oil refining, chemical, materials, utilities, etc. Upon the deliberation by the “Ten-Dragon” scientific and technological research leadership team, 7 projects whose research task was done were approved as “successfully completed”, while 8 new projects were accepted as one of the “dragon projects”.

Among the “successfully completed” projects, 4 were done by SEG, that is, Yuanba Natural Gas Purification Project, Commercial Test of Utilizing FHUDS Series Low Cost Diesel Hydrogenation Catalyst to Produce China V Diesel for a Long Term, Technology Development and Commercial Application of Utilizing Inferior Oil Slurry to Produce High Quality Needle Coke, and Complete Technology for Comprehensive Chemical Unit Offgas Treatment.

Among the “dragon projects”, SEG was involved in 6 research projects, that is, Integration and Development of Heavy Oil Catalytic Cracking Technology with High Residue and Low Emission, Development and Commercial Application of the Second Generation of High Efficiency and Environmental Friendly Aromatic Hydrocarbon Technology, Complete Technology for 20kt/a Hydrogen Peroxide Making with Slurry bed Anthraquinone Method, Complete Technology Development for High Isotactic Polybutene-1, Complete Technology for Safe and environmentally friendly delayed coke and airtight decoking / conveying and storage, and Development and Commercial Application of Comprehensive Intrinsic Safety and Environmental Protection technology for Large Crude Oil Tank Farm.

In 2017, SEG is involved in 22 “Ten-Dragon” scientific and technological research projects, where SEI undertakes 12, LPEC undertakes 9, SSEC undertakes 6, SNEC undertakes 2 and PFCC undertakes 1.

The “Ten-Dragon” scientific and technological research system is an effective organizational form for Sinopec to organize and implement joint research on key core technologies. Since it was firstly implemented in 1991, now 154 complete technologies were developed through the “Ten-Dragon” scientific and technological research and have successfully applied into commercial operation. Such system has obtained good economic and social benefits. Among all of them, SEG has undertaken and completed almost 100 projects.
