A group of ten experts from ExxonMobil came to SEG for contractor prequalification on October 31. They mainly looked at the overseas execution capability and business advantages of SEG. Meeting attendants from the SEG side included company leaders Lu Dong and Xiang Wenwu and the related personnel of market, international business, technology and procurement departments.
ExxonMobil is an international top class energy chemical company, therefore it’s of great importance for SEG to get into its shortlist of project contractors. The opportunity for prequalification comes from SEG’s outstanding performance in achieving FREP’s construction task as well as the phased achievements of related cooperation with ExxonMobil in recent years. The ExxonMobil experts respectively in charge of project development, design management, cost control, procurement management and construction subcontracting spent one week for communication and investigation at SEG head office, SEI, Luoyang Engineering Company and overseas project sites.
At the exchange meeting held at head office, ExxonMobil talked about the framework of project development management and the process flow of EPC project bidding. While, SEG introduced its business chain, service chain and the advantages and performance of its overseas business. The two sides exchanged ideas about issues of common concern, such as quality concept, standard system construction, construction management and constant improvement.
After the meeting, ExxonMobil experts went to SEI for investigation and exchange. The company had an introduction of its general information and made a report of the development of assumed chemical projects. Then a group discussion was conducted with the attendance of related department representatives. After that, the ExxonMobil experts visited piping room and civil construction room, during which the designer made a 3D presentation with the example of Malaysia RAPID project and related exchange was done.
The ExxonMobil experts went to Luoyang Engineering Company on November 2. Similarly, the company had an introduction of its general information and made a report of the development of assumed chemical projects. Then a group discussion was conducted with the attendance of related department representatives. After that, the experts visited rooms for process, piping, civil construction, equipment and IT, etc., during which exchange on site work was conducted with the example of Kazakhstan aromatics complex plant.
Finally, the ExxonMobil experts visited the polypropylene project site at Thailand. The project team introduced information about project, site safety management & quality and process control. The experts visited the site and reviewed a part of management and process documents.
Through exchanges and site investigation, ExxonMobil experts had a good knowledge of SEG’s capability in terms of project development, design management, cost control, procurement management and construction subcontracting. They recognized SEG’s capability and experience in implementing international projects. They also hoped to have wider cooperation with SEG with regard to PDP, FEED, basic design and EPC after this prequalification.
